The initiative, backed by Slovenia, Switzerland, and the Geneva Water Hub, aims to protect water resources during conflicts. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres highlighted how conflict exacerbates water scarcity. Ambassador Božena Forštnarič Boroje emphasized the violation of international humanitarian law by targeting water facilities. Caroline Pellaton from the Geneva Water Hub noted the link between water protection, food security, and human dignity. The alliance also seeks to strengthen international law regarding water in conflict zones.
