Launch of the 2023 Geneva Policy Outlook
The Geneva Graduate Institute is pleased to present the launch of the Geneva Policy Outlook, a new digital publication produced in partnership with the Swiss Confederation, the Republic and State of Geneva, the City of Geneva and the Fondation pour Genève.
In an age of radical uncertainty, it is more important than ever to adopt an anticipatory logic about the implications of rapid change for policymaking. The Geneva Policy Outlook is a finger on the pulse of Geneva’s global policy space and asks how global governance needs to adapt to new world orders, what it means for International Geneva and what can be done now, and by whom.
By providing forward-looking perspectives, the Geneva Policy Outlook is committed to analysis that is research-based and grounded in experience and expertise as a foundation. It also aims to accelerate the process from idea to action through the development of practical proposals and community building.
Achim Wennmann, Editor of the Geneva Policy Outlook 2023, and Director for Strategic Partnerships at the Geneva Graduate Institute, will present the key findings of this pilot edition and will moderate a discussion with some authors on key issues and negotiations to watch in 2023.
Authors of the Geneva Policy Outlook 2023 include Geneva Water Hub Director General Prof Marc Zeitoun, Scientific Director Prof Christian Bréthaut and Corporate Operations Manager Dr Caroline Pellaton. They highlighted opportunities to boost water peace diplomacy for cooperation in times of conflict and as an instrument of de-escalation. A key moment to watch is the Mid-Term Review Conference of the UN Water Action Decade in March 2023 in New York which could advance the notion of "peace through water" as a new form of diplomacy.
