UNECE MoP 9 Side Event - Water flows regulations in a fragmented world

The ninth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes is organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with the Government of Estonia. This meeting will be a milestone for reviewing and accelerating progress towards achieving SDG target 6.5, discussing challenges and good practices related to transboundary water cooperation and the role of the Convention.
This event will present and assess the wide array of rules and frameworks applicable to water infrastructure such as large dams in transboundary basins. It will also discuss how legal and institutional mechanisms may help to achieve an acceptable balance among the various interests of those who may benefit from, or be impacted by large water infrastructure. More information about the "DAMS: water flows regulation in a fragmented world" initiative with IUCN Environmental Law Centre can be seen here.
This event is only available upon registration here before Sunday 26, midnight.
