6th Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa

The Geneva Water Hub contributed to the work of the 6th Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa which, 17-19 November 2019. Its director intervened during a workshop about the solutions concerning the governance of natural areas and resources in Africa. The presentation concerned the potential courses of action aimed at promoting water as a vector of peace which was identified in a collective reflection organised by the Geneva Water Hub as part of a round table with experts in the region. The prioritization of water management and the development of access to water for populations remain a priority in the Sahel Agenda. Messages on the necessity to adopt a water and peace approach have also been brought by other organizations such as the More Water for Sahel initiative and the Groupe Urgence Réhabilitation Développement (URD).
