Blue Peace Middle East Partners Explore Closer Cooperation

The meeting, which was hosted by the Turkish Water Institute (SUEN) in Istanbul and organised in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, was attended by members of the Blue Peace Middle East Managing Committee from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, as well as programme representatives of SUEN, cewas/Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT), cewas Middle East, the Geneva Water Hub and the University of East Anglia.
Hannah Wüzel, a project manager for the Blue Peace Media Lab, said the meeting allowed the partners to learn about each other’s projects and explore areas of cooperation.
“This type of exchange and coordination helps foster cohesion between the different initiatives.” she said. “Some [programmes] are more hands-on, others are more policy oriented, but we all pursue the same goals.”
The Blue Peace Middle East Initiative currently comprises six water-related programmes in sectors ranging from media and youth entrepreneurship to research, data collection and capacity building among others.
