Please find below the Expertsâ Opinion which stems from the session 2022 SIWI World Water Week Session âValue of Water during Armed Conflictsâ. The Finnish Special Envoy, Antti Rautavaara, has shared the Expertsâ Opinion with the UN Water Conference 2023 co-hosts and also with the Office of President of General Assembly. The document will be distributed via the Finnish communication channels, including uploading it online.
This session highlights the critical role of water in armed conflicts, underlining gaps and weaknesses in international frameworks and practices, and highlights available measures to protect the human rights to water and sanitation, water resources and infrastructure, and a healthy environment for all.
