Second edition of the online course on international water law
The Geneva Water Hub invites you to participate in the 2nd edition of its online course on the international water law which will take place between 30 March 30 and 10 May 2020.
By 2030, about 40% of the world population will have to deal with a serious shortage of fresh water which can create growing tensions between the different users of this resource essential to life (irrigation, energy, human consumption or industrial uses). The training of qualified professionals to deal with this crisis plays a fundamental role for a fair and sustainable management of this natural resource.
In this context, knowing the international standards and principles governing the management and protection of freshwater resources is necessary to negotiate and implement appropriate legal frameworks to prevent the risk of conflicts.
The 1st edition of the online course on the international law of fresh water offered in French was a great success and received very positive feedback from the participants. Indeed 75% of them considered that the course had met their training requirement, 80% answered that the learning objectives had been achieved, 95% were pleased with the teaching provided in this course and 80% found this course very interactive. Course content and work load
This course is composed of 5 modules covering the sources of the international law of water, the principles governing the international regulations on transboundary water resources as well as the relationship between the international water law and the international environmental law, human rights and international economic law.
The participants must invest about 10 hours a week to revise the content and prepare for evaluated activities.
Registration and grant applications.
Registration fees are 400 CHF (about 400 USD). The Geneva Water Hub, with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) offer partial and complete scholarships to candidates from non OCED countries, especially candidates from the least developed countries.
