The Global Observatory on Water and Peace, recommended by the Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace, was launched in March 2019 at the 5th Arab Water Forum in Jordan, organized by ACWUA with MWI and LAS-AMWC, under Prince El Hassan Bin Talal's patronage.

The Global Observatory on Water and Peace, a key recommendation of the report of the Global High Level Panel on Water and Peace "A Matter of Survival", was officially launched in March 2019, during the 5th Arab Water Forum at the Dead Sea- Jordan, organized by the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) in partnership with Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI) and League of Arab States - Arab Ministerial Water Council (LAS- AMWC), and under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan Bin Talal.

The theme of this Arab Week was "Towards Sustainable Development in Water and Sanitation", and the Geneva Water Hub actively participated as a partner, and organized a panel session as part of the Opening Ceremony on Sunday 3 March 2019, entitled "The Global Observatory on Water and Peace: An innovative instrument for sustainable development".

In 2019,  the Global Observatory on Water and Peace, a global network of diverse partners "nodes", engaged, in a cooperative spirit, to promote water as an instrument of peace, has continued to build those partnerships.

This video is the first in a series to provide details related to the Global Observatory on Water and Peace; it presents the process that led to the Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace recommendation for the establishment of the Global Observatory on Water and Peace, as a new mechanism of 21st century hydro diplomacy, and its mode of operation.
