The Universities Partnership for Water Cooperation and Diplomacy (UPWCD) is a platform that brings together research and teaching competences from various institutions to enhance scientific knowledge, contribute to public discourse, and introduce rigorous science into water cooperation and diplomacy dialogues and processes.

The Universities Partnership for Water Cooperation and Diplomacy (UPWCD) serves as a platform for universities and other research organizations to establish and further develop collaborations and networks. The main objective of the UPWCD is to bring together research and teaching competences from various institutions and disciplines and to enhance their visibility, impact and service to society. The partnership achieves its objectives by: 

  • Enhancing scientific knowledge and capacities in water cooperation and diplomacy; 

  • Contributing to the public debate and discourses on shared waters; and 

  • Introducing rigorous science into related dialogues and deliberation processes.
