Global Observatory on Water and Peace

One of the primary recommendations of the Global High-Level Panel on Water for Peace was to establish the Global Observatory for Water and Peace (GOWP) to ensure that partners engaged in water cooperation address critical gaps within the global water architecture.

The GOWP serves as a platform and network comprising partners of diverse backgrounds. Partners conduct assessments on the use of water as a vehicle for peace in different regions and communities of practice. The GOWP fosters creative exchanges and contributes to the development of "safe spaces" conducive to progress on key themes of broader or global scope. Its objectives include:

Capturing innovative regional and societal perspectives on water and peace by bringing together multidisciplinary professionals across boundaries to co-create ideas for empowering the use of water as a vehicle for peace.

Diplomacy facilitation by fostering "safe space" discussions to support initiatives that can inform political processes. It aims to make experiences and knowledge on using water as a tool for peace more accessible to diplomatic practitioners involved in peace processes.

Dissemination of perspectives using suitable tools to maximize impact, including reports, policy briefs, and activities.
